Bethesda Center for the Homeless

21 years of shelter and support for homeless men and women

Dick’s commitment to Bethesda is long term and constant. He serves not only at the board level, as an unpaid professional engineer, but also personally inspects and maintains fire alarms and extinguishers, heating and air conditioners and plumbing fixtures saving thousands of dollars annually. Dick is a donor and valuable consultant providing advice to many staff members. He has worked extensively as a United Way volunteer in multiple capacities.

Dick is a modest man who brings many skills and talents to solve lofty and mundane problems. He is dedicated to helping those who are most in need. His efforts have been constant over a long time. He will lead a board strategic planning session in the morning and fix a leaky faucet in a shelter bathroom the same day. He is an invaluable resource pointing out and correcting everything from potential fire hazards to money saving thermostats. He has had limited recognition and is an outstanding example of those who work to do good, not to receive recognition.
