The mission of the Bethesda Center is to reduce homelessness in our community by providing temporary shelter and support services to adults that result in independent living.
Bethesda Center helps to improve the lives of Winston-Salem’s homeless men and women by providing shelter and housing stabilization services with intensive case management. Bethesda Center is the only day shelter in the community and the only emergency night shelter that serve men and women. Bethesda provides shelter and supportive services to the chronically homeless, regardless of their personal situations.
People who come to us for help are typically not admitted to other shelters because of substance abuse issues or severe personality disorders that are especially difficult to handle in a group setting. If not for our ability and willingness to care for these people – providing shelter, bathrooms, showers, and housing stabilization services – there would be devastating consequences, personal and social.
Nowhere else to go, they come.
No one of us a judge, we help.
…When life is darkest,
Everyone deserves some light
